It is with great honor to have received this prestigious award for my volunteer work photographing premature babies and their families in the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit at UCONN Health Center. The Mission Triangle Award highlights “above and beyond excellence in advocacy, communication, and volunteerism.”
I am honored to have been interviewed by West Hartford's mayor, Scott Slifka. My fine art gallery show, Living Remains: A Resurrection Thru the Lens, is featured along with many other aspects of my photographic work.
My twins were born at UCONN's John Dempsey Hospital 10 weeks premature in 1995. I have been donating my time and expertise to the March of Dimes, as well as the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UCONN, by photographing parents with their premie babies since 11/06. I then give each family I photograph a memory book of their favorite images from the session as my gift to them. Ten of these very special images, as seen in my gallery called "UCONN's NICU", were chosen to permanently hang in UCONN's NICU, a gallery which is called Tender Moments. These images help bring comfort to the families going through their difficult time in the NICU. FOX 61 and NBC30 each did a news segment about this very special project that I started. I hope you take a moment to view them. Just click anywhere on the text here or image.
